Wonder Woman

  • (WB) President Biden has signed an executive order that reverses Trump administration policy against transgender military service and prohibits discharges based on diagnoses of gender dysphoria, but stops short of explicitly stating transgender people will be allowed to enlist in the armed forces, according to a fact sheet issued Monday by the White House.

  • Like many awkward gay boys growing up in conservative, rural towns, I frequently escaped into a fantasy world of comic books and superheroes. When Lynda Carter first appeared on television in 1976 as the most glamorous superhero of them all, Wonder Woman, my second grade self was instantly smitten with her blue eyes and dazzled by her golden tiara, magic lasso and bullet-proof bracelets.

  • (WB) For Rachel Levine, the appointment to her new role as a four-star admiral complementing her existing duties as assistant secretary for health is another way for the first openly transgender Senate-confirmed presidential appointee to serve.

Presented in 3D (and IMAX, if you please), “Wonder Woman” (WB/DC), the long-awaited debut of the comic book world’s most celebrated female superhero has arrived just in time for Pride Month. That’s significant because the titular character, aka Princess Diana of Themyscira aka Diana Prince (Gal Gadot), is an Amazonian. Formed from clay and brought to life by Zeus, she was raised amongst women by her mother Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen) and aunt General Antiope (Robin Wright), without the presence or influence of men. In other words, our lesbian separatist sisters are going to love this movie!

  • Being in the all-women homeland of Themyscira, same-sex attraction just makes sense.

  • Two weeks before Hillary Clinton lost the presidential race to alpha male Donald Trump, the United Nations named the feminist icon Wonder Woman honorary ambassador for the empowerment of women and girls.
