(EDGE) On Monday, LGBTQ civil rights organization the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) announced it had recruited 104 top businesses as corporate cosponsors on the Equality Act, landmark federal legislation that would provide the same basic nondiscrimination protections to LGBTQ people as other protected groups under federal law.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg urged the Senate to pass the Equality Act during an interview on MSNBC Sunday evening.
