MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Supreme Court has upheld as constitutional a 2009 law creating a domestic partner registry that provides limited benefits to same-sex couples.

A law allowing gay partnerships took effect in Estonia on Friday, but same-sex couples are being advised to hold off on getting hitched until a series of legal issues have been worked out.

Pensacola – In a historic vote, the Pensacola City Council approved a domestic partnership registry at its Dec. 12 meeting. It is the first city west of Tallahassee to pass an ordinance, offering cohabiting, unmarried couples – both gay and straight – to register as domestic partner for a small fee.

Tallahassee – State Rep. Linda Stewart (D-Orlando) has filed HB 439, which approved, would create a domestic partner registry for the state of Florida.

TOPEKA - The Topeka City Council approved two ordinances aimed at reducing discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, after hearing emotional testimony from both sides of the issue.

While Florida celebrates state wide recognition of same sex marriage, local municipalities are also debating the future of domestic partnership benefits.
