Compass Points

  • When the holiday season comes to an end and all the festivities are over, you are left with a new year. It can be a time to set in place all the things you wished you would have done in 2013. I know I am taking full advantage of the New Year by ensuring that the youth we serve at Compass have access to the resources, technology and opportunities that they deserve.

  • It’s been a long, tough year for everyone. We at Compass Community Center are ready to get together again, and we have a feeling you are, too!

  • Last January, Compass announced a grant award that would be used to start a groundbreaking new program called The Transgender Economic Empowerment (TEE) Program.

  • This past year was truly a busy year for the LGBT rights movement and we refuse to slow down anytime soon.  With the strike down of DOMA and more than a third of the nation’s states now having legalized gay marriage, PrideFest is a time of celebration, a family reunion of sorts, and a festival that raises awareness for our youth, our seniors, and everyone in between.

  • The man who burned out his truck over the Pride intersection in Delray Beach last June will be sentenced on April 21 in West Palm Beach.

  • This holiday season, I have a helpful tip on how to get more things done: make a resolution to invite a gay to your next fundraiser or committee because we know how to fundraise and plan stuff.
