Since its inception over 12 years ago, we have taken pride in successfully promoting and supporting opportunities for the LGBT and allied community through its role as a grassroots business and professional association.

    Networking and educational opportunities are a few of the things that the MDGLCC helps coordinate for its members and welcomes the community at large to participate in. Below is one upcoming opportunity for the month of February that you might want to consider exploring and attending.  

    On Friday, Feb. 28join us for a Networking Breakfast with Dale Carnegie Training entitled "Sell more in 2014.” At this interactive and engaging seminar participants will learn how to: sell with increased confidence, connect quickly and easily with prospects and customers, build relationships so prospects and clients want to talk about their interests, understand the power of following a sales process, understand how a positive attitude contributes to sales results, incorporate best practices for results oriented appointments.

  • When it comes to networking events there are a multitude of options. So much so, that one can easily attend breakfasts, luncheons and happy hours — pushing and pulling business cards nearly every day of the week. It’s no small feat that the GLBX Council has once again, been voted “Best LGBT Networking” by SFGN readership. The Gay and Lesbian Business Exchange [GLBX], a Council of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, is Broward County’s premier support for Gay and Lesbian owned businesses as well as gay-friendly businesses.

  • A terrorism watchdog group took to social media this week and posted photos and claimed the Islamic militant group ISIS stoned two men they accused of being gay.

  • The city of Oakland Park is erecting 14 signs around the city announcing to visitors and residents that all are welcome.

  • The 4th Annual Pink Flamingo Awards, one of South Florida’s most fun and entertaining events, will return to Jungle Island on Thursday, September 22nd. A benefit for the LGBT Visitor Center on Miami Beach, the Pink Flamingo Awards honor people, places and organizations that have demonstrated a level of excellence in the South Florida community throughout the year.

  • It wasn’t a surprise when the House of Representatives passed the Respect for Marriage Act, which will officially repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and require the federal government to recognize same-sex and interracial marriages.

  • Police in St. Petersburg, Fla., have suspended a cop for two weeks after being accused of masturbating in a parking lot on Aug. 25, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
