  • One year old Onyx (ID 580971) had a family that loved her, but when they lost their home and ended up living in a U-Haul truck, they wanted a better life for their girl so they brought her and her sister to the shelter. The girls are a little shy, but given what they have been through it is understandable. Onyx is sweet and affectionate once she gets use to you and will do best in a quiet home.     How a gentleman like Luke (ID 582793) has found himself homeless at 9 years old is a question that no one who has met him yet can answer. Luke was found as a stray in Naples, FL and no one ever came looking for him.  After Hurricane Irma, he was brought to the Humane Society of Broward County to be placed up for adoption.  Don’t let his age deter you, Luke is playful, but also well behaved.  He is calm, sweet, obedient, gets along with kids and is potty-trained.  Luke is heartworm positive, so he’ll need an adopter that lives close to the Humane Society of Broward County as the shelter will pay for and treat Luke as an outpatient.  Can this young at heart fellow be part of your family? 

  • Big, handsome Bruce (ID 575948) wants you to come and meet him.  At 6 years young and 101 pounds there is a lot of this American Bulldog mix to love!  Sadly after having a home his entire life, the landlord said he had to go.  Bruce is super sweet, was submissive to the small dogs that lived in the home, knows basic command and is potty-trained.  Remember it’s not how big you are but how well behaved and Bruce really is a good boy who is looking for a family to love…could it be you?

  • Euro (ID 581549) came all the way from an overcrowded shelter in Puerto Rico to find his forever home.  As you can tell from his photo, three year old Euro loves toys and hopes to have plenty to play with.   Can you give Euro the loving home he deserves?  The adoption fee for dogs over 6 months is $100.

  • Mocha (ID 582593) is a two year old, 74 pound Labrador retriever mix who previously was at a shelter in Key Largo before Hurricane Irma.  The shelter evacuated their animals prior to the storm with all intentions of bringing them back once all was clear.  Sadly, because of the devastation in the Keys, the animals are going to remain at the Humane Society of Broward County so they can find new homes.  Mocha is a fun-loving fellow with a lot of spirit and will do best with an active family.  Mocha loves to play fetch, he likes treats and he knows some basic commands.  This fellow would love a toy box full of toys and a family who will shower him with love.  Can you make his wish come true?

  • Sweet Sammy (ID 577243) is looking for a forever home…can you make his wish come true?  After eight years his family decided they no longer had time for loveable Sammy so now he needs another family to love.  At 19 pounds there is a lot of Sammy to love!  This fellow gets along with other felines and likes people of all ages.  He is playful and affectionate and really hopes you’ll give him a chance.  Can Sweet Sammy be part of your family?

  • Sweet Sara (ID 575736) has been waiting since early May to find a home and doesn’t understand why she is being overlooked.  This gal is just over a year old and only weighs 45 pounds.  Sara is an energetic, playful girl but she calms down after a few minutes of play. She especially loves to chase after balls. After a little obedience training, this princess will fit right into your family.  Stop by and meet her…she could be the girl of your dreams.

  • Calling all cat lovers, Honey (ID 581125) is waiting to meet you.  Sadly after having a home for 10 years Honey’s owner became ill and can no longer care for this sweet fellow.  At 20 pounds there is a lot to love and pet.  Honey is just one of several mature felines looking for a home this week.  When you adopt an older kitty, they tend to be calmer, will let you sleep through the night and might even snuggle on the couch with you.

    Little Man (ID 580410) isn’t that little, but he hopes that doesn’t deter you from welcoming him into your home.  This handsome three year old59 pound border collie mix is sweet and will do best with an active family.  He came to the Humane Society of Broward County from another shelter so he is hoping his luck will change here.  Can Little Man be the new fellow in your life?

  • Four-year-old Squeakers (ID 576041) sadly was given up because someone developed allergies.  This 15-pound gal is described as being quite the princess.  She loves to be held and will even perch herself on your shoulder while you sit on the couch.  Squeakers enjoys using a scratching post, likes running water from the faucet and she gets along with calm dogs. Oh, and one other thing… she likes to tell you stories, so be sure you’re ready to listen. 

  • Beautiful Scarlett (ID 578372) is a 4 year old, 60 pound American bulldog/mastiff mix who is incredibly sweet, gives hugs and kisses and never stops wagging her tail.  This gal is smart, treat motivated and loves attention.  She came from another shelter in hopes of finding a forever home here in South Florida, can you make her wish come true?

  • Handsome Jack Sparrow (ID 571584) has been through a lot these last few weeks and is now looking for a home to settle into.  This 2 year young fellow was hit by a car and had to have one of his legs amputated because the injury was so bad.  He is making a fabulous recovery and is now ready to be adopted.  He is sweet, loves to have his chin scratched and came from a home were there were other cats and he was fine.   He would just prefer a home without dogs as they scare him.  Can Jack be part of your family?
