In the final weeks of Campaign 2020, South Florida’s largest LGBT political groups are pushing hard to make sure gay voters and their allies are registered, and know how to cast their ballots.

It’s Saturday morning at the corner of US-1 and Oakland Park, and there are flags waving, cars honking and signs thrust into the air. At first glance, it seems the tea party has returned to its spot at Coral Ridge Mall — but drive up closer to the crowd, and the corner has taken a 180-degree turn.

(WB) Sarah McBride, who in 2016 was the first openly transgender person to address the Democratic National Convention, made history again with a primary victory Tuesday night, setting her up for her likely win as the highest-ranking openly transgender legislator in the United States.
