Around 33 percent of British citizens are against having a Disney princess that is LGBT.
Polling company YouGov asked people across multiple age groups about having Disney princesses having different body types and sexualities, according to Gay Star News. Besides LGBT princesses, over half said they’d welcome an overweight princess and 70 percent would be okay with one that was a parent.
Notably, 67 percent of 18-to-24-year-olds approved of LGBT princesses, while only 25 percent of those 65 and over did.
Disney has previously had the idea tossed around. Elsa voice actor Idina Menzel said the idea of giving her Frozen character a girlfriend in the sequel has been discussed.
“I can’t promise anybody that that’s what’s gonna happen,” she said to PrideSource. “But deep down am I really happy that it’s causing people to talk about it and have these kinds of conversations? Yeah, I am.”
The movement has even resulted in a hashtag. #GiveElsaAGirlfriend and #MakeElsaALesbian both trended in 2016 after Menzel had talked about the potential of Elsa having a girlfriend.
There have been countermovements to making Elsa LGBT. Multiple petitions online have asked to keep the character’s sexuality straight or unidentified.
