A Brazil jury sentenced Tatiana Ferreira Lozano Pereria to 25 years in prison for killing her gay son, according to Out.
Prosecutors said Pereria’s son, Itaberli Lozano went to live with his grandmother after a fight with his mother, but Pereria welcomed him back home to reconcile, Out reported. But she hired two hitmen to kill her son when he returned. They beat him, but refused to kill him, so Pereria stabbed him with a knife, killing her son.
“He had a job, he was very polite, [and] he never quarreled with anyone. He only had problems with his mother, who did not accept that he was a homosexual,” Lozano’s uncle, Dario Rosa told police, according to Out.
Pereria maintains she isn’t homophobic and is expected to appeal her sentence.
