Wilton Manors Business Association (WMBA) has a new leadership board. Julietta Wenzel, co-owner of Ocean Therapy Center, will lead the 300-member organization. She is the first woman to lead WMBA in almost a decade.
Wenzel, who’s served as vice president since 2017, says taking on a leadership role was not in her initial plans. After joining the organization in 2015, she became vice president, serving with immediate past president Tim Moffitt. When asked to serve as president, she decided to rise to the occasion — and to try leadership for at least a year.
“My predecessor Tim grew WMBA tremendously,” Wenzel said. “My job is to keep it going. One of the really cool things we’ve added is to work closely with the cities so that small businesses can work, succeed, grow, and thrive.”
She hopes to get more WMBA members to engage with the city to grow their businesses.
“Small businesses play a vital role in the fabric of every community, and I’m thrilled to lead this incredible business group into a new decade when small businesses face the challenges and opportunities of a changing marketplace, digital technology and increased competition from large corporate brands,” Wenzel said in a press release. “One of our goals for 2020 is to help our members meet these challenges.”
The incoming vice president is Peter Jackson, CEO of Peter Jackson Media, LLC, a business growth and marketing agency.
He has served on the board since 2018 and edits the group’s annual Wilton Manors Business Directory and City Guide.
Dr. Vanessa Koutalidis, co-owner of Island City Chiropractic and Timothy S. Hart, CEO of R3 Accounting, will continue serving as secretary and treasurer, respectively.
Tim Moffitt, president of Umbrella Credit Services, rounds out the executive committee as immediate past president.
Also serving on the WMBA volunteer Board of Directors are Jeff Sterling, president of Sterling Accounting; attorney Jeff Selzer, owner of Selzer Law; and Justin Romano, president of Bayview Payroll Services.
