The case of Alfred Chadwick McMurray, 31, a gay man whose body was found in an Oakland Park residence two months ago, remains unsolved. His brutal murder occurred in an Oakland Park residence on the 1300 block of NE 34th street. Chadwick was found by friends, his body discovered bound and on the ground in a pool of blood in the living room.

Broward Sheriff’s detectives investigating the case say they recovered McMurray’s Toyota Tacoma truck stolen from the house, abandoned at a Lauderhill apartment complex. Detectives hope someone might have seen the person driving it or leaving it at the complex, but no certain leads have come forth yet.

McMurray had recently moved to Broward from North Carolina, where he had done time on a methamphetamine charge, before violating probation and also getting sentenced to prison for 16 months in Florida. Thus, law enforcement has necessarily explored a possible drug connection, or a deal gone south. But his friends have protested that McMurray's past should not wrongfully color his present.

At the time of his death he was in a relationship with local businessmen Shannon Prewitt, and had strong ties with a group of dear companions, many of whom wrote to SFGN after the initial story detailing his murder.

Said one writer : "Chad was an amazing person who was loved and adored by all who knew him. He was just finishing his education to become a chef at Le Cordon Bleu in Miramar, Florida. He was an amazing student who loved to share his skills by preparing wonderful and elaborate dinners for his friends and family. He was quick with a smile and always had a joke to keep everyone laughing."
