This Japanese anime and manga series just got an explicit LGBT character after over two decades without one.
Orochimaru, one of the main villains in “Naruto” has come out as non-binary to their son in the anime’s television sequel, “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.”
In the episode, Orochimaru’s son Mitsuki asked if he should call them his mother or father.
“That’s a silly question,” Orochimaru replied.
“There have been times when I was a man, and times, a woman,” they continued, referring to their ability to transform and inhabit host forms so they can become immortal. “Outside appearances don’t matter. The will to uncover all truth – that is the core of my being.”
Fans took to Twitter to express their excitement.
“Orochimaru gently explaining gender fluidity to Mitsuki is Good Parenting and I love itttt,” wrote one user.
