English gravity bike racing champion Zack Leader publicly announced on Dec. 31 that he is gay.
Posing with a rainbow flag on Instagram he wrote, "No more hiding, no more lies, no more fannying around! Some of you may have thought about it I imagine. What I’m trying to do is come out and say I’m gay.”
In gravity bike races, competitors zoom down hills on pedal-less bicycles. Leader won British Evo Gravity Bike Championships in 2016 and 2017.
He stated in his New Year’s Eve post he wants to become the first openly gay superbike champion. In the United Kingdom, racers compete in the British Superbike Championship.
Leader told Motorsports Radio on Friday that he has gotten mostly positive feedback since his coming out.
“Makes no difference to me, you know you always have my support,” said fellow racer James Ellison, OutSports reported.
