Just hours before his Melbourne United team's National Basketball League season opener, Isaac Humphries publicly came out as gay.

“I’ve been absolutely overwhelmed with how much support I’ve had not just from my team and our community in Melbourne and Australia, but globally I’ve had messages from support from every part of the world. It feels like I’ve touched every part of the globe,” Humphries told Outsports.

Melbourne ultimately suffered a 91-86 defeat against the Adelaide 36ers. It's interesting to note that Humphries spent the previous two seasons playing for the 36ers.

He ended up with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists during his first post-coming-out game.
