Local athletes performed well at the recent Gay Games in Paris.
Chris Manning, a basketball player, was on a silver medal winning team.
“Bittersweet leaving,” Manning said at the Charles de Gaulle airport before stepping on a plane bound for Fort Lauderdale. “This was a lot of fun and growth as a man.”
Manning, 30, played for the second place Los Angeles Heat. He was sponsored by Hunters Nightclub in Wilton Manors.
Elsewhere, John Ring, a triathlete and cyclist, competed for Ireland. Ring, 45, took the bronze medal in the cycling criterium. He is married to Herb Diamond of Fort Lauderdale.
SFGN was still gathering details at press time for other Gay Games 2018 participants. The 32-year-old event, held in France this year, has seen more than 10,000 participants in 36 sports and 14 cultural events.
According to a source in the swimming division, 91 countries were represented this year at the games.
