Three days after Congressman Patrick Murphy announced he will run for a U.S. Senate seat, former state Rep. Priscilla Taylor said Thursday she will seek to replace him in the U.S. House.
Taylor, a Democrat, served in the Legislature from 2004 to 2009 before getting appointed to the Palm Beach County Commission.
She continues to serve on the commission and was county mayor in 2014. Murphy, a two-term Democratic congressman, announced Monday he will run next year for the seat held by U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.
That could lead to a heavily contested race in Murphy's congressional district, which includes St. Lucie and Martin counties and northern Palm Beach County.
