Second Annual Festival Promises an Evening of Elegance
SunServe’s First Annual Valentine’s Enchanted Evening was held in 2009 to a sold-out room of 100 guests, and this year’s event is likely to be even more memorable.
SunServe, an organization focused on providing resources for economically disadvantaged, marginalized youth, senior adults, people of differing abilities and those with life-challenging health conditions in the LGBT community in greater South Florida, came up with the theme evening in order to provide same-sex couples and their friends with a safe, comfortable and high-end Valentine’s evening.
When asked about why this event was created, Executive Director Mark Adler, stated “We wanted to host an event that would be a special thank you to our community and to our supporters.” Board Co-Chair, Dino Georgiou, suggested the organization make their annual signature event an elegant, but fun, Valentine’s Enchanted Evening: “This event was designed to provide LGBT couples, individuals, and their friends with a memorable Valentine’s experience where they can hold hands, dance and let their hair down without having to worry about that family from the mid-west sneering at them from the corner.”
The evening starts off with cocktails and fine hors d’oeuvres on the patio of L’Hermitage on the beach and opens into a lavish dinner by Thierry’s Catering with open bar and live entertainment followed by an evening of dancing in the L’Hermitage ballroom. Adler states, “The intimate setting for 120 guests allows an opportunity to connect with friends and to make new ones.”
This year, Valentine’s Enchanted Evening will be held on Saturday, February 13 at L’Hermitage Ballroom at A1A and Oakland Park Blvd. Tickets to the event are limited and can be purchased online at www.SunServe.org, or by calling 954-764-5150. Individual tickets are $150 and couples are $300.
All proceeds raised at this event go to support the programs and services of SunServe including the Noble A. McArtor Adult Day Care Center.
