2nd Annual Miami Beach Gay Pride Grows in Second Year

On April 17, Miami Beach Mayor Matti Bower and 30,000 of her closest friends will come together in celebration of the 2nd Annual Miami Beach Gay Pride. This year’s festivities will be led by actress Sharon Gless and activist/Iraq veteran Lt. Dan Choi, who will serve as Grand Marshals.

SFGN columnist Glenn Douglas Packard and drag diva extraordinaire Elaine Lancaster will serve as Masters of Ceremonies. Furthermore, Pride has recruited the remarkable talents of international superstars Crystal Waters, Danny Tenaglia and Estelle to entertain the fabulous crowd.

The 2nd Annual Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade will begin at noon at 5th Street and Ocean Drive. The parade route will continue north to 15th Street and will feature festive floats and the inspiring LEGACY couples—couples who have been in committed relationships for 20 years or more.

Couples include Robert Collier & Chuck Hunziker, Cheryl Lockwood & Cindy Binder and Bill Pease & Frank Fiorentino, each of which have been together for more than 25 years.

Following the parade, Pride continues at Lummus Park, between 10th and 14th Street, with exciting musical performances, an expo with LGBT-friendly vendors and businesses, refreshments and a family-friendly play zone.

Stop by one of over 100 proud vendor booths including Equality Florida, Pridelines Youth Services, Wire Magazine and SunTrust Bank.

In addition to Miami Gay Pride itself, the LGBT community can participate in a plethora of ancillary events before and after Pride.
