Nightlife: Orgullo

Miami is preparing for the first Orgullo Hispanic Pride celebration on Saturday, Oct. 1 and a great way to get into that hot Latin frame of mind is at one of the dance competitions leading up to the big festival on South Beach.

Several preliminary rounds have been held, but you still have a chance to strut your stuff and earn a place in the finals. The next prelims are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24 at Noche Latina Saturdays at the Manor, 2345 Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors, and Mova lounge, 1625 Michigan Ave. in Miami Beach on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

In addition to the dance competition, the Orgullo (Spanish for “Pride”) festival will celebrate the region’s diverse Hispanic culture and showcase musical performances, folkloric dance, celebrity guests, drag performers and vendor booths representing non-profit organizations and the business community.
