Giving Thanks for a Special Weekend

One of the biggest weekends of the South Florida nightlife scene is finally upon us as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches. Of course, all eyes will be on Miami Beach and the weekend-long festivities associated with the White Party, but across the region most bars and clubs are also planning special parties to celebrate the long holiday weekend.

If you load up on too much Thanksgiving turkey, you’re likely to succumb to a tryptophan-induced food coma and sleep through the fun, but a quick trip to the gym or even that last minute trip to Publix could serve to keep you alert.

Here’s a look at some of the fun to be had this weekend in South Florida:

Wednesday, Nov. 24

Start your holiday weekend right. Legendary DJ Manny Lehman will be in the booth at The Manor to kick off the Thanksgiving weekend tonight. There is no cover. The Manor is located at 2345 Wilton Dr. in Wilton Manors.

Thursday, Nov. 25

If you didn’t get enough meat at dinner, you’ll find plenty at The Boardwalk, 1721 N. Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale tonight. Muscular Zeb Atlas will be making a special appearance and we guarantee you this meat will not put you to sleep! He’ll be doing two shows, with additional appearances on Friday and Saturday.

Friday, Nov. 26

While things are “white” down south, in Fort Lauderdale, black is definitely the color. The Leather Masked Ball returns this year at the Sea Monster, 2 S. New River Dr. West. DJ Paul Kraft from Dallas will provide the music for the sultry evening. Proceeds from this year’s party benefit a Pride Center program to help gay men avoid crystal meth.

Saturday, Nov. 27

Tons of hunky gay softball players head into Fort Lauderdale for the Hurricane Showdown tournament and many will be heading to South Florida’s sports bar, Sidelines, tonight for one of the official tournament parties. The party starts at 9 p.m. Sidelines Sports Bar is located at 2031-A Wilton Dr. in Wilton Manors.

Sunday, Nov. 28

The Bay, boasting a 2300 sq. ft. indoor/outdoor waterfront dance space, hosts T for 2000 today from 4 – 10 p.m. NYC DJ Eddie Baez will be on hand, along with your hosts, including Adora, Chyna Girl, Asia Aviance, Kitty Meow and Pussila. There’s no cover before 6 p.m. and they’ll be running a shuttle from 12th and Ocean in Miami Beach. You’ll find the action at 1601 79th St. Causeway in North Bay Village.

Monday, Nov. 29

We don’t know about you, but we think we’ll be recuperating from the weekend. Or maybe we’ll stop by the Manchester Room at Georgie’s Alibi for one of bartender extraordinaire Lisa’s thirst-quenching cocktails. After a big holiday weekend, the 2-for-1 cocktails may be in order. How many weeks until Christmas?
