Nightlife: Fall is Here

Another Labor Day has come and gone and it will be nearly two months until the next big holiday weekend, but this temporary lull provides an opportunity to check out some of the region’s many neighborhood bars and clubs without the crowds of tourists.

Here are a few of our suggestions for a low-key night out over the week ahead:

Wednesday, Sept. 7

For a change of pace, this is definitely the place to visit: The Naked Grape wine bar has moved down the street to 2163 Wilton Dr. in Wilton Manors. Between 5 and 7 p.m., enjoy selected wines, craft beers and bar bites for $5 each.

For an exotic night out, head to Hollywood’s Castle Lounge for Hooka Nights. Located at 322 N. Dixie Highway, Castle Lounge is the perfect destination on I-95 between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 8

In South Beach, the cool boys and girls head to Edison Farrow’s Simple Life Thursdays at the new Buck 15 Lounge, 437 Lincoln Lane. DJ Daisy D. is back in the booth and the same cool New York lounge-y vibe can be found, just a couple blocks from the old location.

Friday, Sept. 9

You get double the fun at Dudes, Fort Lauderdale’s beach bar at 3270 NE 33rd St. Every Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., local favorites Tony and Gloria perform, but stick around for some of the hottest dancers in South Florida from 9 p.m. to close. Tonight, drinks are 2-4-1 after midnight.

Saturday, Sept. 10

Celebrate Brazilian Independence Day tonight in the intimate Ivy Lounge and patio at The Manor Complex, 2345 Wilton Drive. In addition to DJ Larry Larr, don’t miss Olga Dantelly and Brazilian performances all night long. The party gets started at 10 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 11

Today is Mona’s Cocktail Lounge’s first annual Pet Adoption Day. Our four-legged friends are cherished at Mona’s and the bar is proud to help you find your next furry companion from noon to 5 p.m. Mona’s is located at 502 E. Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.

The Ramrod, South Florida’s leather/Levi/uniform bar, celebrates its 17th anniversary. Don’t miss the balloon drop at midnight with more than $1,000 in cash and prizes, as well as free shots of Jack Honey and Chambord. Ramrod is located at 1508 NE 4th Ave. in Fort Lauderdale.

Monday, Sept. 12

Tag Bar, Delray Beach’s only gay bar, features karoke on Mondays with “Frank E-oke” from 8:55 p.m. until 1 a.m. Tag Bar is just one block off Atlantic Ave. in at 25 NE 2nd Ave. in Pineapple Grove. Show up a little early for 2-4-1 drinks from open until 8 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 13

Drop your drawers because it’s underwear night at The Stable, 205 E. Oakland Park Blvd. in Oakland Park. If you’re brave enough, you’ll enjoy happy hour prices all night long on cool drinks from your hot bartenders John and Mike.
