Fort Lauderdale Centennial Celebration: A Weekend of Festivities

The Centennial Celebration for the City of Fort Lauderdale will deliver a full weekend of unique programs commemorating this milestone of great importance. Two days of complementary, fun-filled events are planned as both the city and the Sun-Sentinel celebrate the same birthday!

Centennial Beachfest, Saturday, March 26, 8 p.m. to midnight, is the first festivity, which will take place on the picturesque beachfront, from A1A and the Las Olas Boulevard north to the Ritz Carlton. Entertainment with musical entertainment, activities for all ages, and much more are promised. At midnight a fireworks display is planned to celebrate the anniversary with a bang!

On Sunday, March 27, noon to 8 p.m., Centennial Riverfest, Presented by AutoNation, will take place along the Riverwalk promenade in downton Fort Lauderdale. The dedicated Riverfest area runs from Huizenga Plaza continuing west to Esplanade Park, across from the Museum of Discovery and Science. The festival will honor Fort Lauderdale in the Present, International, Past, and Future categories – with special presentations planned from a variety of cultural entertainments, vendors to complement each area.

You will not want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime event, whether a native or only a guest! A special parking rate of $5 is extended to the public at city parking facilities in the vicinity of the event.
