While some people giggled at Pastor Jonathan Shelley’s sermon, some were left in shock after he said “fornicators” were not welcomed in his church.

“Love is love? No. There’s no promise you could make, there’s nothing you can say, you’re never welcome, go away. I just can’t wait until you just go to Hell,” he said during a live stream of the sermon March 6.

People off-screen cheered in agreement while others were silent.

Shelley also supported the killing of queer people in February.

“And, you know, it’s great when trucks accidentally go through those, you know, parades,” Shelley said. “I think only one person died. So hopefully we can hope for more in the future.”

He’s referring to the Pride Parade tragedy back in June 2021 where a member of the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus, James Fahy, was killed in an accident caused by a member of the same chorus, Fred Johnson, Jr.

Shelley is a part of the Steadfast Bible Church in Texas, which is considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, Pink News reported.

This is the same state where the governor, Greg Abbott, and its attorney general, Ken Paxton, consider gender-affirming care for trans children “child abuse.”
