LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas’ attorney general is being urged to not appeal a federal judge’s decision striking down bans against gay marriage in the state.

A spokesman for Attorney General Dustin McDaniel says no decision has been made.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that a petition urging McDaniel to not appeal was delivered Wednesday by plaintiffs in a state case challenging the gay marriage ban.

U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker last month struck down the prohibitions on same-sex marriage but put the ruling on hold pending a state appeal.

Pastor Randy Eddy-McCain and his husband, Gary, are plaintiffs in a separate case pending before the Arkansas Supreme Court and McDaniel spokesman Aaron Sadler says a decision on an appeal will be made after the state Supreme Court rules.
