CLEVELAND (AP) – An Ohio lawmaker and her longtime partner are finally getting married after waiting 21 years.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that Rep. Nickie Antonio and Jean Kosmac received their marriage license Tuesday from a Cuyahoga County judge.

It was the same court where the couple was rejected when they sought one more than 10 years ago.

The Lakewood Democrat posted a photo on Facebook of her and Kosmac getting their license from a court clerk.

Antonio was the first openly gay state lawmaker and has long advocated for same-sex marriage. The Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage for the entire country on June 26.
