Elizabeth Cole, a 43-year-old transgender woman, was shot in the neck by her neighbor in Henderson, Nevada on Januar 28.
“I’ve been offended so many times — thousands of times, I’ve been offended as a trans person,” she said, according to the Review-Journal. “What would I do if I had the justification to shoot everyone who had offended me?”
Cole doesn’t know when or whether the bullet will be taken out of her neck, and at the time, she thought she was supposed to die.
She said, “being who you are is worth dying for.”
