DETROIT (AP) - Hundreds of same-sex couples who were married in Michigan are seeking a court order that would force the state to recognize the unions.

A federal judge in Detroit is hearing arguments Thursday on whether to grant an injunction. At the same time, attorneys for the state will ask Judge Mark Goldsmith to dismiss the lawsuit or at least freeze it until higher courts rule on Michigan's gay marriage ban.
    
Gov. Rick Snyder won't recognize more than 300 same-sex marriages that were performed in March, a day after a judge struck down the ban. He says it's better to wait until the entire legal process ends.
    
A federal appeals court two weeks ago heard arguments in cases from Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.
