WEYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) _ A man charged with setting fire to an adult entertainment and novelty store in Weymouth told police he did it because God doesn't like pornography.
Jon Fernald of Rockland is facing charges including arson in connection with the three-alarm blaze Saturday that caused an estimated $1 million in damage to a commercial building that housed the Amazing Intimate Essentials store.
The 44-year-old Fernald, who was severely burned and remains in the hospital, was ordered held without bail after pleading not guilty at his bedside arraignment. No one else was hurt.
Fernald's court-appointed lawyer has refused comment.
The Patriot Ledger (http://bit.ly/OCsON9 ) reports that according to the police report, Fernald told officers he had once been a customer of the store and blamed it for getting him addicted to pornography.
