This week read about the Biden administration ending the support of a lawsuit to ban trans athletes participating in girls' sports in Connecticut, Jodie Foster kissing her wife when she won a Golden Globe award, and Hasbro rebranding Mr. Potato Head to Potato Head to be more gender-neutral.
Biden Administration Ends Support on Transgender Athlete Ban Case
Last year, several cisgender runners filed a lawsuit stating that they had been forced to lose because they competed against transgender runners.
Trump Administration showed support of the lawsuit in Connecticut that sought to ban transgender athletes from participating in girls’ sports in local high schools.
According to NBC News, “Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham and other department officials withdrew Barr’s statement, saying, ‘The government has reconsidered the matter.’”
President Biden has been very vocal about his stance on gender identity in schools since his first day on the job.
“On his first day in office, President Joe Biden signed an executive order prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity in school sports and elsewhere,” The Associated Press said.

“The Silence of the Lambs” star Jodie Foster shared her excitement to be winning a Golden Globe in a personal acceptance speech.
As soon as her name was announced as the winner for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, Foster leaned over to kiss her wife Alexandra Hedison.
She then gave her acceptance speech, which she claimed was unexpected.
“I’m a little speechless,” she said. “I just never expected to ever be here again.”
Foster was nominated along with four other women, including Glenn Close and Amanda Seyfried.
She thanked her wife, her dog, and even Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who had thanked her when he was announced as the NFL's MVP.
Foster won the Golden Globe for her performance in “The Mauritanian,” which released on Feb. 12.
Beloved Children’s Toy Rebrands as Gender Neutral

Hasbro announced that it will be rebranding its Mr. Potato Head toys to be called simply Potato Head.
While the rebranding received lots of negative feedback, supporters continued to shine through the hate. LGBT advocacy group GLAAD showed its support for the more inclusive rebrand.
“Hasbro is helping kids to simply see toys as toys, which encourages them to be their authentic selves outside of the pressures of traditional gender norms,” GLAAD’s Chief Communications Officer Rich Ferraro said.
To combat hate regarding the new name of the playset, editor-in-chief at popular toy review site The Toy Insider Ali Mierzejewski put it simply: “It’s a potato.”
One Twitter user said that there are more pressing matters to be angry about than a toy potato.
“Will be deleting anyone who is upset about the change from ‘Mr. potato head’ to ‘potato head’ it's a vegetable. Maybe let's find something more important to be upset about,” they said.
