In an attempt to bridge the gap between homophobia and Islamaphobia, religious right pundit Theodore Shoebat is claiming this week that Islam is a gay cult seeking to bring the world into a homosexual pagan empire. His rationale? According to him, Muhammed was a cross dresser.

In an opinion piece masked as an exposé published to his father's website Shoebat.com, Theodore Shoebat, cherry-picked verses from the Quran to support his theory that the Muslim profit did drag.

"Muhammad, contrary to Scripture, in fact wore the clothes of his child-bride Aisha as a ritual to receive revelation from Allah," Shoebat writes, citing a translation of a Quran verse that says, "The revelation does not come to me when I am in the garment of any woman except 'A'isha."

To further support his manifesto, Shoebat also cites an article in Turkish publication Hurriet Daily News that detailed acts performed by members of a mystic order in the ancient Ottoman government referred to as "Sufis."

"Some of the Sufis even organized what were known as 'sema'," the Hurriyet article recounts. "During which ceremonies, they would sit in a circle and concentrate on the beautiful young boys in the center, concentrating to such an extent on what they perceived as beauty that they might fall into a trance."

Showboat concludes: "Muhammad not only was a cross-dresser, but he had gay friends. So the next time you hear a modern Christian laud himself for having gay friends and criticize the church for prohibiting homosexuality, let him know that Jesus wouldn't have gay friends, but Muhammad did."

On Wednesday, it was reported that Theodore Shoebat's father, Walid Shoebat, warned of "Islamists in the Middle East who are bringing an anti-Christian tyranny that will lead to 'homosexual rights' and 'rights to cannibalism.'"
