Felix Jaehn has announced that he is bisexual.

The German DJ became known for his remix of OMI’s “Cheerleader,” which topped the chart in 14 countries according to Queerty. Jaehn spoke to German magazine Die Zeit about his sexuality and figuring out what he wanted.

“Sometimes I was more interested in girls, sometimes more interested in boys,” he said.

Jaehn said that he was inspired to come out by his album “I,” according to Die Zeit. The DJ admitted he was previously afraid of long-term commitment because he was so unsure of his sexuality.

The first people I spoke to about my feelings were my brothers,” he said. “They reacted great, and this caused me to break a knot. Suddenly there was that sense of lightness and normalcy that did a great job.”

Jaehn’s album was released on Feb. 15 and currently sits at no. 5 in the GfK Entertainment Charts.

“Now I dream of finding the person I want to share my life with, man or woman,” Jaehn said. “And that all who are like me, will encounter as much openness and understanding as me.
