Pop Duo t.A.T.u, Famous for Lesbian Kiss, Reunite

t.A.T.u, the Russian pop duo who jumped to international stardom 10 years ago with their hit song “All the Things She Said” and their lesbian-themed music video, performed together again.

Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina reunited to sing their 2002 track “All About Us” on Romania's version of The Voice, the Gay Star News reported.

Originally thought to be lesbians, the pair denied it in a 2003 documentary. The girls said their music producer, Ivan Shapovalov, packaged them to be presented as a “lesbian” group.

“He [Shapovalov] made us out to be lesbians when we were just singing for lesbians. We wanted people to understand them and not judge them. That they are as free as anyone else,” Volkova said.

t.A.T.u gained popularity at the turn of the Millennium with their catchy electro-pop beat and their music video for “All the Things She Said,” where the two shared a steamy kiss under the rain.

The duo split in March of 2011.
