If you trip onto a dance floor around Hollywood on a Saturday night, there’s a chance you might spy Danielle Schultz, belting out a rock rendition of Brittany’s, “Baby One More Time,” or a kitschy take of “Walking on Sunshine.”

Schultz is lead singer of the five member group The Shagwells. Along with guitarist Joe Martinez, bassist Amy Seplia, drummer Gaspar de Valle, and keyboardist Mike Williams, the Shagwells play a mix of top 40, pop, modern, 80s and 90s rock covers to the locals.

You’ll usually find the Shagwells playing to the locals at venues like O’Malley’s Sports Bar, and, Gigi’s Music Café, which feature both a stage and dance floor or Fort Lauderdale’s long standing lesbian bar, Beach Betty’s.

With a set list that ranges from Adele and Amy Winehouse to the Beastie Boys, the Black Keys, U2, Van Halen and Led Zeppelin. We tried to get an idea of what Schultz has in her collection.

SFGN: What are your favorite covers to perform?

Schultz: Led Zeppelin. Vocally, because he has such an interesting range and I really get to span the spectrum. Also I think it surprises a lot of people because they don’t expect to hear a girl sing Led Zeppelin and sing it with balls.

SFGN: What’s the most embarrassing thing on your Spotify?

Schultz: I’d have to say “Good Bye to You,” or, “Walking on Sunshine.” I shouldn’t say that because we play that song in another band, Wild Card, but yeah, they make fun of me for it. Even “Baby One More Time,” I only sang that sarcastically until I heard the band play it and we rocked it out.

SFGN: What’s the one album would you want to have with you if you were stranded on a desert island?

Schultz: That’s a tough one. I like Florence + the Machine, so maybe them. And I like Amy Winehouse.

SFGN: If someone wants to buy you a drink after the show, what’s your drink of choice?

Schultz: Oh, easy, tequila shots. You know how you’re supposed to have warm beverages when you’re on stage? I drop them in my tea. Keeps me buzzed and lubricated.

SFGN: What kind of tea do you pair with tequila?

Schultz: Oh it’s a throat coat tea, it’s awful.
