He caused an uproar in the Christian music community last year after coming out as gay. But he won’t let that stop him from moving forward.
After “hanging up” his old band Everyday Sunday, Trey Pearson is launching his debut EP “Love is Love.” He’s opened up a kickstarter to raise funds.
“As you may know, this past year has been a new beginning for me in so many ways,” he told SFGN. “I left my Christian Record Label, and came out of the closet publicly, this last year. It's been a beautiful overwhelming amount of support from the LGBTQ community, and I wouldn't be where I am without you all.”
Pearson has already received over $11,000 of his $30,000 goal, with 11 days remaining. Rewards for donating include the physical CD, free concert tickets, a 10-minute Skype video and more. The top supporter gift— with a $1,000 donation or more — gets a house party/concert with Pearson.
“I am making the most personal and exciting music of my career. I feel like I've been able to tap into a part of myself I've been pushing down my whole life, and it feels like a valve has burst open with so much to say. I have hung up my old band Everyday Sunday, and I hope you'll join me in creating my debut record as a solo artist.”
