Pride Fort Lauderdale is seeking volunteers to assist with the Pride of the Americas festival planned for April 21 – 26.
The festival, presented by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors from Alaska to Zaire. More than 30 events are planned in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area. Pride of the Americas will culminate with a parade on SR A1A and two-day beach festival, Saturday and Sunday, April 25 - 26.
The organizing committee will host an open house for all interested volunteers on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Hunters Nightclub in the Shoppes of Wilton Manors, 2232 Wilton Dr. Hundreds of volunteers will also be needed during the festival to staff the welcome center and aid in many events, including seniors, youth, transgender and LGBT advocacy conferences, Earth Day conservation activities, arts exhibitions and concerts, parade and beach festival.
As preparations continue, the committee is particularly seeking volunteers with skills in event planning and logistics, social media and marketing, retail and merchandising, and hospitality to help plan and execute the festival. Local businesses and organizations are also encouraged to participate.
“Pride of the Americas 2020 offers a unique opportunity to showcase Greater Fort Lauderdale to the world and we invite the community to join us,” said Pride Fort Lauderdale president Miik Martorell. “There are many ways to get involved, whether you’d like to assist in planning events or just help out for a few hours during the festival.”
