As South Florida’s Transgender community continues to mourn the loss of entertainer Kristina Reinwald, there is an upcoming opportunity for community members, allies and advocates to come together to share and learn.

TransCon is a conference to educate and empower the transgender community and its allies. The conference will have multiple panels and discussions that are geared toward trans equality and visibility. This year, topics include employment, dating, HIV, transyouth, transequality, spiritual care and more. TransCon is made possible by the Aqua Foundation for Women. Its mission is to serve and support the lesbian, bisexual and transgender community in South Florida through grants, scholarships and initiatives.

The Keynote Presentation will be made by Kylar W. Broadus, Senior Public Policy Counsel of the Transgender Civil Rights Project at the National LGBTQ Task Force. In 2012 Broadus made history by becoming the first openly transgender person to testify before the U.S. Senate. He has enjoyed a prolific career as an activist, writer, lawyer, professor, lobbyist and public speaker. As an attorney, Broadus practiced with a focus on LGBT law, particularly, transgender rights. He currently serves as faculty at Lincoln University in Missouri.

The conference will be held at Barry University(11300 NE Second Ave, Miami Shores, Florida 33161) on Saturday, March 14 from 9-5 p.m.  You can find out more here: Tickets are available at:
