(SS) Closures and construction this week:
Sunrise Boulevard: East Sunrise Boulevard will be closed in both directions at the Florida East Coast railroad crossing until 6 p.m. Friday for ongoing track upgrades for the Brightline high-speed passenger service. Motorists can get around the week-long closure by taking Oakland Park Boulevard to the north and Broward Boulevard to the south.
Commercial Boulevard: One lane in each direction on Commercial Boulevard will be closed at the FEC railroad crossing from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday. The temporary lane closure will stretch from Northeast Ninth to 13th avenues across the tracks.
Oakland Park Boulevard: The exit and entrance ramps on northbound I-95 at Oakland Park Boulevard will be closed nightly from 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sundays to Thursdays for at least two weeks as part of the express lanes project. Exit at Commercial Boulevard, make a U-turn and head south on I-95 to exit at Oakland Park Boulevard.
Broward Boulevard: The northbound I-95 exit ramp to Broward Boulevard will remain closed nightly from 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sundays to Thursdays through mid-December, at least, so crews can finish work on widening the ramp. Motorists will be detoured by exiting northbound I-95 at Sunrise or Davie boulevards.
Interstate 595: All I-595 express lanes will be closed between Florida’s Turnpike and the I-75/Sawgrass Expressway interchange so crews can complete overhead sign structure installations. The closure begins at 9 p.m. Tuesday and ends at 4 a.m. Wednesday. I-595 general use lanes, both westbound and eastbound, will remain open.
Interstate 75: All northbound lanes of I-75 to northbound Sawgrass Expressway and eastbound I-595 will be closed from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 4:30 a.m. Thursday to complete the installation of sign structures and other road work. Exit at Royal Palm Boulevard, go west to Weston Road, north to State Road 84 and west to access Alligator Alley. Go east on State Road 84 and make a U-turn at Flamingo Road, then west on I-595 to access the Sawgrass Expressway north.
Meanwhile, all southbound lanes of I-75 between the Snake Creek Canal and Miami Gardens Drive will be restored to their permanent positions. Traffic patterns will be changing between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. Exit 4, at Miami Gardens Drive, will be moved back to its original, pre-construction location.
Florida's Turnpike: Lanes are shifting on the southbound Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike at the I-75 interchange. The southbound lanes will be shifted to the northbound lanes with a temporary barrier wall separating the flow of traffic in both directions. This configuration will remain in place until next summer while crews complete construction on the direct connect bridges between the future 75 Express lanes and Florida’s Turnpike.
Construction schedules could change depending on weather or other circumstances, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
