South Florida Gay News brought home four Florida Press Club awards in their annual Excellence in Journalism contest for 2021.
Executive Editor Jason Parsley won all four of the awards including first place in Commentary for his story “The Murals at Equality Park: An LGBT Artist Should Have Been Chosen.”
Parsley won second place in General News, for his series on a local consignment store scam. Finally he won third place in both Business News and Minority News.
“We don’t publish stories to win awards, but it’s always nice when we do, and the hard work of our writers are recognized,” said Norm Kent, publisher of SFGN.
