SFGN’s Food Editor Publishes Book; Reading on Wednesday at Stonewall Museum

Paper Cuts: My Life in Chicago’s Volatile LGBTQ Press Via Rick Karlin

Enjoy a reading and Q&A from author Rick Karlin at the launch of his new book, “Paper Cuts: My Life in Chicago’s Volatile LGBTQ Press,” from Rattling Good Yarns Press. Rick Karlin, an inductee to the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame, has left his mark on Chicago’s LGBT press.

The event will take place Wednesday, December 11 at 7 p.m. at Stonewall National Museum – Wilton Manors, 2157 Wilton Drive. Free to attend, but suggested donation of $5.

Karlin is a well-known columnist, author, playwright and impresario. From the early rough and tumble days of the LGBT press, he pushed the boundaries of the media, stepped on some toes and had his toes stepped on.

“Paper Cuts” is the fascinating story of Karlin’s creativity, and the challenges he faced balancing his public persona and his passionate personal life. Told with his breezy style, “Paper Cuts” gives a window into the volatile world of Chicago’s LGBT press and bar scene.

Signed copies will be available for sale or order a copy in advance from Rattling Good Yarns Press online.
