You don’t usually see one flamingo floating in the ocean by A1A, much less hundreds of them, unless it’s FlockFest weekend.
The annual floating party is back and much more than a day at the beach. It’s also an afterparty and several nights of pre-parties.
The main event is Saturday, July 9, at 11 a.m. on Fort Lauderdale Beach down by 700 Seabreeze Boulevard. That’s when you’ll see a sea of inflatable pink flamingos, rainbow unicorns, floating birds and more. The event encapsulates everything that non-Floridians think we do every day: go to the ocean, sip on a drink and ride waves while sitting on a big float.
This year, celebrated designer Andrew Christian and his Trophy Boys are planning to show up and hang out while selling must-haves for any day at the beach, including beach balls, towels, and more.
While a day at the beach on an ostentatious float is the main event, it’s not the end or the beginning of the parties. This year FlockFest is introducing the Flamingo Splash Tea Dance. The party is at Courtyard Marriott Downtown at their rooftop bar starting at noon. Prince Trilla and Vauz Allen are scheduled to perform. The event is expected to be packed, with more than 400 tickets already sold as of the time of this writing.
Pre-Party and VIP
But before they fire up the air compressors and start inflating the flamingos, there are a bunch of pre-parties, starting with the LeBoy Pre-Check In party on July 5 from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday is the Pub Pre-Check In at 5 p.m., and LIT hosting the event at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Thursday is also the Leather & Feather party at Eagle starting at 9 p.m.
FlockFest weekend kicks into high gear on Friday night. The FlockFest VIP party is at Hunters Nightclub starting at 6 p.m.
VIP packages for Saturday and Sunday events are available. For information on tickets, VIP, floats, and more, visit FlockFestEvents.org.
And don’t forget the sunscreen!
