Five-year-old Duke (ID 653783) is one of several adult dogs waiting at the Humane Society of Broward County to meet you.

He came to the HSBC from a rural shelter where people don’t often go to adopt, so he is hoping his luck will change here. Duke is a sweet fellow but is nervous here at the shelter with the other dogs barking. He enjoys going for walks and will need a patient, loving family who will give him some time to settle in. He appears to be part Labrador retriever, but we can’t be sure what he is mixed with. We know there must be someone with a big heart who will give this 79-pound fellow a forever home. Could it be you?

To meet a pet, fill out a pre-adoption application at (unless you have in the past) and stop by the shelter that is conveniently located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale. If you have any questions call 954-989-3977 ext. 6. The adoption kennels open daily at 11 AM. If you can’t have a pet on a permanent basis but would like to help adult dogs and cats find homes, volunteer to be an Adoption Ambassador, learn more on the website.
