Four-year-old Captain Planet (ID 662151) is a handsome 60-pound, Labrador Retriever mix who is active, smart and appears to be potty-trained.

He would benefit from a proper walking harness since he does pull a bit out of excitement. Captain Planet is highly treat-motivated and is amazing at catching treats if you toss them in the air. If you had a big backyard for him to play in, that would make him very happy. And, many labs enjoy swimming, so if you have a pool Captain Planet might go for a swim. He is heartworm positive, so his new family will have to bring him back to the shelter or to one of the participating VCA Animal Hospitals for treatment. This is not contagious to other animals or people and is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito.

To meet a pet, please fill out a pre-adoption application at and then come to the Humane Society of Broward County located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale. The shelter opens daily at 11 a.m. and if you have questions call 954-989-3977 ext. 6.
