The Palm Beach County Human Rights Council raised more than $65,000 from its annual Winter Fête.
“Thanks to George Albrecht and Giselle Thackrey, this year’s Winter Fête was the most fun event we have ever held," Retired judge Rand Hoch, PBCHRC’s President and Founder, said in a statement.
The proceeds of the event will fund such initiatives as the organization’s annual college scholarships program and the presentation of the PBCHRC Public Service Awards.
This year’s event was held in January and over 150 attended, including Congresswoman Lois Frankel; Constitutional Tax Collector Anne Gannon; County Mayor Gregg Weiss; and West Palm Beach Mayor Keith James.
PBCHRC was founded in 1988. It is Florida’s oldest, independent, non-partisan, political organization dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. The organization promotes equality through education, advocacy, direct action, impact litigation, and community outreach. Through the years, PBCHRC has been responsible for the implementation of over 160 laws and policies providing equal protections, rights, and benefits for the LGBT community throughout the county.
