More than 125 supporters of the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council joined the LGBT rights organization for an evening of appetizers and drinks at the National Croquet Center last week.
The event raised more than $50,000.
COVID though cast a long shadow over the event with the group’s Founder and President Rand Hoch not attending due to COVID along with two dozen other individuals who had purchased tickets.
“The Summer Soirée was underwritten by an impressive Host Committee which included gubernatorial candidates Nikki Fried and Charlie Crist,” Hoch said. Neither candidate though was able to attend because of the Florida Democratic Party’s Leadership Blue Weekend.
Proceeds from the event will help fund PBCHRC's initiatives for the upcoming year — including funding the Daniel S. Hall Social Justice Awards — college scholarships for LGBT and allied high school seniors.
