Orlando – Community activist and talk show host Randy Ross was arrested and put in jail Jan. 23 on insurance fraud charges, according to the Orange County Jail website.

Ross, 49, made bail the same night he was booked. The specifics of his charges are unclear, but according to court documents, Ross is accused of four felonies and a misdemeanor.

His attorney, Roger Scott, said he doesn’t “have any details” about the charges but that “Randy maintains that he is not guilty of any crimes.”

“The state attorney should be reviewing the reports and deciding whether or not they will charge the case,” Scott said.

Angela Starke, a spokesperson for the state attorney’s office, said, “We have received the case package in our office; however, we do not have a filing decision yet.”

Ross would not comment on the arrest and instead directed Watermark to his attorney.

This isn’t the first time Ross has made headlines. In 2014, he said Clerk of Courts Tiffany Moore Russell, who was an Orange County Commissioner at the time, didn’t do much in office except make babies and go on maternity leave. Ross has previously run unsuccessful campaigns for Orlando City Commission and the Orange County School Board. Most recently, he was tapped to host a political TV show called “Front Porch Chat with Randy Ross & Friends.”
