This weekend Walt Disney World Resorts plays host to another year of magical parties fashioned for LGBT people and their friends.
One Magical Weekend, three days of pool parties, dance parties and after hours parties, returns to the happiest place on earth, June 3 to 6. Headlining this year’s event is pop singer Kesha, who struck gold with her 2012 smash hit “Die Young.” Kesha is scheduled to make a special performance at Saturday night’s main event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Tom Christ, marketing director for One Magical Weekend, told SFGN that ticket sales are strong and Saturday’s main event would take place on the same stage as Disney’s upcoming Star Wars re-boot. Christ, who together with partner Billy Looper, have been producing OMW parties for nearly 10 years, said attendees can expect high level performances by some of the top dancers and music makers on the entertainment scene.
Mango’s Tropical Café, an International Drive hotspot, has stepped up to host this weekend’s after parties featuring up and coming DJs spinning electronic music hits. Christ said attendees staying at the B Resort & Spa, OMW host hotel, will have access to a bus for transport back and forth from the parties held at Mango’s, Hollywood Studios, Typhoon Lagoon and Epcot Center.
Epcot, a theme park that mixes futurist rides with a world showcase of nations and their cultures, hosts Sunday evening’s closing event, “Deep.” Space is more limited for “Deep,” Christ said, than the other parties as organizers have planned for a spectacular display of lights, sound and visuals. Superstar duo Rosabel is providing sound.
“It’s a super-sophisticated light show with mind blowing visuals, lasers and devilishly sexy go-go dancers,” Christ said.
OMW gets underway Friday at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon as more than 6,000 people are expected to participate in the pool party.
