Last week Norm Kent underwent brain surgery to remove a benign, but aggressive, tumor, that was growing.

Before the surgery Kent announced he would step aside as publisher of SFGN.
Once Kent recovers he will focus on launching the SFGN foundation. The foundation will focus on helping aspiring LGBTQ student journalists.
“My aspirations and goals have always been to provide a voice for the LGBTQ community,” Kent said. “Creating, maintaining, and ultimately perpetuating a foundation for young writers will enable me to achieve that goal. Obviously, I will need the help of all your voices to make it happen; for all of us to be in the room when it happens.”
Just over a year ago Kent underwent his first brain surgery to remove the tumor. But it was later discovered the tumor had returned and he would need another surgery.
