The Mr. Gay World USA competition will take place 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at Sunshine Cathedral in Fort Lauderdale. Admission is $15 in advance or $20 at the door (show starts at 7p.m.).
Wilton’s own Edgar J Reyes is competing in this year’s event. The winner will go on to represent the U.S. on the world stage as well. This years Mr. Gay World, U.S. title will also to compete at Mr. Gay World representing United States.
“I am excited to compete in this year's competition. Of course I am a little nervous,” Reyes said. “What excites me about competing Saturday is my ability to promote my platform, to promote advocating for using PrEP in the U.S.”
Not sure what to expect at the event? Director for USA, Kyle Ean Haggerty said, “eye candy for everyone!”
Haggerty added, “This year’s competition our contestants will compete in a number of categories. These are meant to test our contestants and help show their personality.”
At the event contestants will compete on the runway, formal weal, swimsuit and more.
Once the completion is narrowed down to five contestants they’ll be asked on stage: “If you were to win Mr. Gay World US…. How will you use the title to give back to the community?’
“As a former Mr. Gay USA, the life experience,” Haggerty said about what this competition means to him. “It excites me to see the contestants push themselves to be the very best that they can be.”
