A Florida man who was arrested earlier this month for allegedly stealing butt plugs from a sex shop said he stole the items because he was too embarrassed to legally purchase them, police said according to the Smoking Gun.
Staff at a Spencer's store in Vero Beach, Fla., said they saw Christopher Masters, 32, taking a sex toy out of its package and putting it down his shorts. The store manager told police she heard someone opening the package around 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 10.
According to an arrest report obtained by the Smoking Gun, the store manager saw Masters throw the package under the shelf. He then allegedly took another sex toy and put it in his left pocket, the police report says.
The sex toys are worth $29.98.
The police report states Masters, who is listed as a mechanic on jail records, admitted to taking the butt plugs.
"Further stated that he had enough money on him but he was too embarrassed to pay for them because they were sex toys," the report reads. Masters also said he was worried an arrest might impact plans for a new job he had with Okeechobee County, Fla.
Masters was charged with shoplifting, a misdemeanor, and booked into county jail. He was later released on bond.
