Leadership Forum Part of Equality Florida’s Broward Weekend

Equality Florida and Our Fund Foundation are teaming up to present an LGBT Leadership Forum next month in Fort Lauderdale.

Scheduled for Nov. 11 on the campus of Nova Southeastern University, the two organizations intend to bring leaders together to discuss LGBT equality. Nadine Smith, Equality Florida co-founder, will moderate the proceedings.

Equality Florida is a longtime LGBT advocacy organization. Our Fund Foundation is a top LGBT philanthropic organization supporting Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties.

The Leadership Forum begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday evening inside NSU’s Horvitz Auditorium. Admission is free but due to space limitations a RSVP is required.

The forum features Michael Adams, CEO of SAGE; Mara Keisling, Founder and Executive Director of the National Center for Transgender Equality and Shannon Minter, Legal Director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights.

It’s part of a big weekend of fundraising and awards in Fort Lauderdale for Equality Florida. On Nov. 9, Equality Florida’s 17th anniversaryBroward Gala comes to the Westin on the beach. Zach Dishinger, a  teenage cosmetics entrepreneur is being given the Youth Voice award at the gala, said Row IIliescu, EQFL South Florida Development Director.

Illiescu also confirmed Nikki Fried,Florida’s Commissioner for the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, will receive the “Voice of Equality” award. The award is given annually to a person who demonstrates courage, passion and unwavering commitment. Remarks from Nadine Smith are expected at the gala as well.
